Welcome to my blog site for our class. We will occassionally use this site in class and outside of class to complete our class objectives and prepare your for the Advanced Placement in United States History exam.
A.) Your personal goals for the class, such as what skills do you hope work on? what era of history interests you the most/hope to learn more about? B.) Your preferred learning methods, such as graphically organized notes, thematic discussions, scored debates, role playing, and so on. C.) Your goals for me as your instructor, such as how you prefer course feedback on papers and grades, instructional methods you hope I will use.
Hello, hello, hello! This is the Norvis (Nick) posting! I am not a person with very clear goals, but my goals for this class would, I think, probably be to improve my essay writing and, of course, further my knowledge of American history. As for an era of history...honestly, I've never been much of an American history nut, so I hadn't thought about it much. I suppose the Great Depression, since it's a period of time I've learned VERY little about so far.
As to my style of learning, by and large I prefer individual reading and writing outside of class, with discussions and/or debates inside. I'm very much a word person instead of graphics, so any graphic organizers I create are likely to be hastily- and poorly- done.
My goals for you, Mr. Davis...? Well, as I said, I enjoy discussions and debates, so I'm hoping to see a lot of those in class. I don't mind lecture classes very much either, though, so either way I'm agreeable.
A.) My goal is to do well and learn how to read and retain information well. Like Mike, I would like to learn about the 60's because it was a groovy time man!
B.)Role playing is loads of fun and i guess notes would be helpful.
C.)I hope you will always give me good feedback and good grades on papers and not bad feedback.
A.) I hope to do well in this class... that's pretty much it. i don't have a specific era that i like the most.
B.) I don't have any learning methods like note cards or anything... i don't really like role playing though. everything else is good though.
C.) Making things discussions and things of that sort fun is the best way... feedback on papers and stuff just write a grade and thats good but if i need help i'll just ask for it.
a.) The World War II era is interesting, and I would like to study that more. b.) I enjoy having thematic discussions and using organized notes. c.) I like receiving papers back with a lot of feedback so I know what I've done wrong or well.
A.) Goals for the class: Stay on task and not procrastinate on readings and stuff. Also to actually grasp everything while I'm learning it instead of trying to cram the night before. I would like to learn about a more recent time period. AP Euro was cool last year but hard to relate to because a lot of it was stuff in like 18th century France. Which doesn't really interest me as much as U.S. history in maybe the 1900's.
B.) Really good notes that I can study from and in-class activities that I will remember participating in really help me learn. When the teacher says go home and read a bagillion pages from a textbook and make your own notes, I rarely do well. Hopefully I'll be more focused this year.
C.) I like it when teachers put lots of comments on my papers, so I know how I can improve. Also, review before tests is sooo helpful!!! Because sometimes when I'm supposed to read and take notes on my own, I get sidetracked and don't concentrate as well.
A.) Personal Goals: To learn the history of the United States and get a 4 or better on the AP exam. The Pre-Revolutionary war and the Revolutionary war interest me the most.
B.)I like all learning methods.
C.) My goals for you as my instructor are : Don't be boring, Get papers back quickly, and Don't give too much homework.
A.) My personal goal will be to pass every test, paper, etc. in this class for the whole year. The era that most interests me would have to be the World War II period. B.) Thematic discussions and role playing. C.) Just prepare me for that AP test any way possible.
a. The skils that I'd like to work on in this class are learning how to use my time wisely and how to write essays in a limited amount of time. I'd really love to learn about the 60's. Psychedelic!!! b. I don't really have any favorite type of learning method, but i do like open discussions in class. c. Ummm...whatever you wanna do is cool, but please just don't fail me. Thanks a lot.
A) My only real goals for this year in "APUSH" are to achieve a 3 or better on the ap exam and maintain an average of at least an 80 or higher. As for the era I would msot like to study I think it would be World War Two.
B) As far as my preferred learning method goes, i don't like taking notes but I still think I learn better that way along with discussions and active debate.
C) I feel that I learn better when I can recognize my errrors and correct and them as is necessary. That being said i like being able to correct rough drafts of essays or even quizzes or tests for the possibility of earning credit back.
A.) Personal goals for the class is to not do poorly but the opposit of that which that is, We should study in depth the relationship of neighbors in colonial times.
B.)Debates and discussions rock the applecart.
C.) To at least get some papres back with grades, I guess and comments, yeah.
A.) Personally, I want to receive a three on the exam, or maybe better, but nothing below... I would like to learn more about the United States' involvement Vietnam.
B.) I learn best during lectures and from organized note taking. Debates are awesome and role playing could be a good time
C.) For writing assingments constructive criticism is effective...It's better to point out what's wrong and suggest ways to fix the problem... no beating around the bush.
A.) My personal goal for the class this year is being consistant and a hard working student. I also want to learn new things about U.S. history. Overall i want to be a great student and recieve a great score on the A.P. exam.
B.) I learn best through visual aid and demistration. By doing this i get a deeper understanding of what i am suppose to do.
C.) I prefer feedback to be straight to the point and also very helpful. I also would like my instructor to keep the class fun and entertaining. Finally i would like my intructor to use visual aids such film and charts to illustrate what we as students need to do.
A. My goal for this class is to learn much new information in U.S. history while getting good grades. There is not one specific era in history that I like more or less, but some events in history are much more interesting.
B. I learn the best by reading the material myself and taking notes. Also, having the teacher go over the material helps me very much.
C. I prefer feedback from the teacehr to be straight to the point so i recognize my mistakes and don't continue to make them.
